Day & Time

last Saturday of January, April, July, and October
2 - 5 pm
Calendar Tip:  Because this group only meets every three months, sometimes it won't show up immediately on this calendar.  Please hit the "Look for more" link once or twice to see the upcoming book.

Location

Central Market
Community Room (2nd floor)
3815 Westheimer Rd
Houston TX 77027

Reading Material

We read books over 300 pages long. That is the only requirement, though mostly we read fiction.

Description

Our group was formed to read longer works that don't fit into the usual, once-a-month, Great Books format. Although 300 pages is the minimum length for one of our books, we have read a number of books (and trilogies) of more that 1000 pages. We select the books we're going to read through a nominating and voting process once a year, in April.

Additional Directions

Central Market gets pretty busy on Saturday, so you may have to search for a parking spot. The Community Room is on the second floor.

Welcome

This group is pretty easy to fit into, so we hope you'll join us. People enjoy our group as a chance to get motivated to read those big books they've always wanted to read. The discussions usually bring out details and parts of the big picture that were overlooked before -- something fairly common in Great Books discussions. We've read classics, such as Les Miserables, and more recent publications, such as Infinite Jest.
