Although membership in the Houston Great Books Council is not required for you to participate in our regular discussion groups, we encourage you to join us with an annual contribution.

Donations are used for:

• The cost of this website.
• HGBC citywide events that bring together members from all our discussion groups. For example, over the past few years, we have conducted July 4th discussions on the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. (Although we sometimes charge a fee for such events, we don't attempt to realize the full cost of the event through these fees; donations help defray that cost).
• Board operating expenses (postage, etc.).
